Twin Valley Leo Club participates in fundraising activities to support good causes. This year, Leo Club is dedicated to contributing all of the funds raised to help fight Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MSis “a disease in which the immune system eats away at the protective covering of nerves”(NationalMSSociety).
Leo Club is advised by Mr. Glenn Moyer, President Maddie Reeser (10), Vice President Rachel Herman (10), Secretary Sara Stoltzfus (10), and Treasurer Jack McDevitt (10) . Meetings are held every letter “S” flex in room 319, and every other Thursday. Leo club does annual fundraisers like a recent towel drive in January 2019. Along with supporting local good causes such as the Saint Mary’s shelter in Honey Brook, PA where several volunteers assisted children with their holiday gifts. “I am glad that I can help those in my community, especially around the holidays,” said Sara. There, Leo Club members helped young kids pick out christmas gifts for themselves and their families. After they picked out what they wanted, Leo Club members will help wrap gifts to be ready for the holidays.
In the next following months, Leo Club hopes to sell baked goods and sodas during flex time. Each item will be sold for $1 and hope to make more money to support their cause. “We do our best to support meaningful causes, and to raise awareness of MS,” said Mr. Moyer. To date this year, Leo club has raised over $500, and hopes to raise much more.
