Twin Valley Raiders Look Great on Grass

On a gorgeous 70 degree October day in Leesport, PA, the Twin Valley Lady Raiders met the Panthers of Schuykill Valley for an afternoon match on the grass.

The fist half of the game was very quiet until with one minute remaining in the first half, on a break away, Twin Valley Junior Natalie Dorsheimer scored the first goal of the game to give Twin Valley the lead.

Less than a minute later, Sophomore Paige Danilak settled a tough ball in the panthers corner, moved it quickly to the center where Freshman Jackie Goebel laid it off to Junior Marianna O’Doherty who found the back of the panthers net for a second time in the final minute of the half.

Then with less than one minute left in the game, Marianna O’Doherty found the net for a second time from a post ball shot by Sophmore Nadia Ziegler.

Jordan DeGary and Sophomore Taylor McVay played tough defense for the Raiders.

Coach Lindsay Staufenberg said, “It took us some time to get it going, but once we got used to playing on the grass we started having good passes and touches and we were able to find the goal.

The Raiders improve their overall record to 12-3-1 and will face Wilson in a league matchup on Monday.

Junior Marianna O’Doherty found the net two times versus the Panthers and was the Twin Valley “Beast of Game”.
