During Presidents weekend 2019, Twin Valley High School Ski Club took a trip up to Vermont to hit the slopes. Members joined New Oxford High School and left the school early Friday afternoon. Skiers and snowboarders took on Smugglers Notch, America’s number one family-friendly ski resort on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, members traveled to Stowe Mountain. With fresh powder covering the slopes they were more than excited. Ski Club stayed in the Hampton Inn in Colchester, Vermont for the three night stay.
The trip was organized by Physical Education teacher Ryan Waltemyer, a dedicated skier who loves to shred the Glades up north. “The combination of snow fall, perfect skiing conditions, and awesome students made it one of the best trips ever run.” Twin Valley sent twenty-seven bodies to Vermont, costing a total of $10,344.
One of the snowboarders, Chris Eggert had a lot of fun on the trip as he yearly takes trips out west and across the border to Canada to chase the most challenging mountains. “I really enjoyed the backcountry glades and pow, it was definitely a trip to remember.” Although the trip took nine hours, the skiers and snowboarders did not want to head home one bit as Pennsylvania mountains are nothing when compared to Vermont. Overall, the ski trip pleased all of the members, and those who have the opportunity to go back next year, will go back for sure.
